The Maynard Brothers Band Win the Colossal Contenders Blues Search

The MBB to Represent New York's Capital District at the Blues Foundation's International Bluesfest

Albany, NY June 17, 2002  -  The roadhouse blues quartet, The Maynard Brothers Band, was voted by Albany's blues fans to represent the New York Capital District at the renowned International Blues Challenge scheduled for early February, 2003. Hosted by the Northeast Blues Society, the MBB won the hearts and ears of over 5000 blues lovers attending the Colossal Contenders finals preceding the official opening of Albany's Fleet Bluesfest.

The MBB competed with seven other regional standouts at the preliminary Colossal Contender Barbeque in May and was voted in as one of three finalists to compete in the area finals this past Friday. The band had the second spot in Friday's line-up where they ignited the crowd as they launched a tight set of invigorating originals from their first self-titled CD along with fresh, new cuts from their upcoming release. Their all original set Friday night set the stage for voting and the nod to open the Fleet Blues Fest Saturday morning along with their trip to Memphis.

The band's line-up features guitarist and songwriter Erv Maynard, who composes most all of the MBB songs. Brother Jeff Maynard provides the incredible range of vocals while he thumps the rhythm line on his Fender fretless bass. Harold "Clutch" Reiser, "the brother from another mother", anchors the diverse compositions on drums and percussion. Completing the line-up is old friend and guitarist Gary "Zeke" Bracjewski, who adds his signature blistering leads to Erv's creative music.

Be sure to mark January 30 - February 2, 2003 on your calendar to see The MBB at The 18th Annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee. In the meantime, the band is currently working on new material and arrangements for their next CD release and will be showcasing it at selected events. Stay tuned.
